LASIK & Eye Conditions
Eye Conditions
Did you know? Optometrists can detect many systemic diseases just by looking inside your eye! Some common eye conditions include cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. We will show you pictures of the back of your eye so you can see everything that we see.

LASIK and other refractive surgeries
Are you considering refractive surgery to decrease the need for glasses and contact lenses? Nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia are the four conditions that affect the eye’s ability to focus on objects clearly. Dr. Z and Dr. H have co-managed many patients and helped them to decide which procedure is the right one for them.
LASIK, or “Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis” is the most common procedure. It is a refractive surgery that reshapes the corneas of your eyes. LASIK can correct three of the four conditions that affect vision. Most patients find that as they age, they will still need glasses for near work.
ICL, or “Implantable Contact Lens”, is a surgical procedure where an artificial lens is implanted behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and the natural lens. This procedure is an excellent alternative for patients that are not great candidates for LASIK.
RLE, or “Refractive Lens Exchange”, is a surgical procedure where the natural lens inside the eye is replaced with an intraocular lens that corrects the vision. This procedure is essentially the same procedure as cataract surgery and can correct all four types of vision conditions.
We can determine if you are a good candidate for refractive surgeries at your annual comprehensive eye examination.
